J. EDWARD CECALA GENERAL MANAGER EXECUTIVE OFFICE
Dear Patricia,
It was a genuine pleasure having the opportunity to speak with you earlier this month at the Global Investor's Conference in Las Vegas. The work done by Project Planet has made a marked change for the better in my property.
Last August we commenced the project at our 600-room hotel and the immediate results were staggering on two levels. While the fist three months showed savings of 22% we were eventually enjoying a 37% savings during the fourth quarter.
We have just completed our fist year of the cycle and our overall savings for the twelve month period was 26% a remarkable number that equates to $121,000 over the course of a year.
Aside from the financial benefits it is the guest, those extremely sensitive to environmental issues, who have praised our work in this program. Considering the fact that we have over 400,000 guests per year the radiation effect of this positive program only enhances our position in the marketplace.
Thanking you for your efforts and extending best wishes for continued success and the coming Holiday season, I remain,
With best regards,
JEC/nec

Dear Donna,
As speaking for Amfac Parks and Resorts, I would like to applaud the products and services of Project Planet Corporation. While we have always tried to be environmentally conscious, your company gives us the ability to greatly enhance our awareness.
The products offered are of the highest quality and the guest response has been fantastic. Our bed cards have created a 50% reduction in bed linen replacement for our stay-over guests. The towel tents have also created a significant increase in the reuse of guest towels.
We encourage all hotels, including those within our Corporation, to utilize such a valuable tool. Helping preserve our environment, reducing operating costs, along with projecting a favorable perception to our guests, makes using Project Planet a sound decision.
Sincerely,
Daniel Chupko
Director of Operations
Maumee Bay 1750 Park Road #2 Oregon, Ohio 43618

Dear Ms. Cook:
It is a pleasure and a delight to express my appreciation for your company's outstanding job in supplying the hospitality industry with colorful and useful signs and cards and brochures regarding our fragile environment and the use of recycling towels and linens!!
You wouldn't believe the amount of guests who like the idea of saving water; detergent; and the energy in laundering linens and towels. They love the idea that we are doing our part to conserve water and phosphates into our nation's streams and waterways.
Our valued guests are happy to be a part of saving the environment and taking an active part along with us.
Project Planet's colorful and fun cards and product line make it enjoyable and highly visible for our guests and our team members.
Lynn, we are proud to participate and would welcome any referrals needing a testimonial as to the great benefit in conserving water; energy; and most favorably financial resources!! Keep up the great work!!
Positively,

Dear Mr. Tatum,
Thank you for your wonderful program - Project Planet. We have been on the program for one year and we have seen a saving in several areas that I thought you would like to know about. First we had a saving in trash removal of $3876.00, $10,000.00 savings in replacement of linen, and $3240.00 in chemical for laundry and dishes. We have saved a total of $17,116.00 of which was quite surprising considering how easy the task are to follow. Project Planet has become a game and the staff are finding other ways to save money in utilities and recycling of paper. One of the items we found interesting was that we recycled old files and received $69.00 back for the paper. The money was spent for pizza for the staff, which motivated them greatly.
Last year we did not follow the audit system as well as we should have, this year we are taking a stronger look in hopes of even more improvement. Mr. Stanley I can't say enough how happy you and staff have made us with your supported of ideas and materials. We will continue to use the program, for as you see it has been truly accepted by all of our guest as an added feature and true selling point to our Government Market being here in the Capital City of Kansas.
Thanks again from all of here at the Days Inn Capital Centre - Topeka, and keep of the great job. It is truly working for America.
Sincerely,
Kathy D. White, CHA General Manager Days Inn Capital Centre Topeka, KS

Dear Tyler,
We highly recommend using the Project Planet program. In our hotel we have approximately 70% of guest participating in the towel program. Which in turn saves washing many loads of towels, not to mention the wear and tear on the towels themselves. The program was easy to implement and our guest love having the choice to re-use their towels. It feels good to know that we are doing something to help conserve water and energy for future generations.
Thank you for creating such a wonderful program!
Sincerely,
Anita Andre Bingham Motor Inn

AH&LA property members realize the importance of conserving the Earth's natural resources...they also realize the importance of reducing costs in the areas of utilities, labor and laundry expenses. By utilizing the Project Planet Linens and Towels Re-use Program, hotels can achieve both goals.
John Russell 2001 AH&LA Chariman
|
|

Since we've teamed with Project Planet in 1999, our members have been consistently pleased with its results. The high-quality re-use program allows our operators to offer their guests a chance to help preserve the environment while adding significant profits to the bottom line. It's a successful program for every-one trying to reach the same goal, conservation for our World and lowering operating costs without sacrificing service.
Joseph A. McInerney, CHA American Hotel & Lodging Association President & CEO
|
|

Dear Mr. Tatum,
Project Planet is a WIN - WIN deal for every-one. Our hotels using Project Planet materials are realizing higher guest participation and staff involvement than we enjoyed with our previous internally developed program. Higher usage translates into a more environmentally friendly lodging facility with lower operating costs. What more could one want? Well, Project Planet also supports your industry's association, the AH&LA, in a variety of ways and that is one more plus. At American Hospitality Management Company it is a "no brainer".
Sincerely,
Kirby Payne, CHA President American Hospitality Management Co. 2002 AH&LA Chairman

Dear Mr. Tatum,
I am writing to give you and your organization Thumps Up for creating such a wonderful program. I am the Corporate Executive Housekeeper for Janus Hotels and Resorts. My properties have become so aware of conserving energy, reducing cost, and eliminating waste. The tremendous savings on chemical usage, on water and energy conservation, and especially on labor have made a great impact to our individual properties. My cost per occupied room has decreased by about 5 minutes saving us annually about $15,000.
The program is extremely easy to implement. I am so enthusiastic that we are educating our staff members and making them conscience of our environment. We are in the process of spreading our knowledge, thanks to your team, to many of our other locations.
The quality of our product has remained high with a Quality Evaluation Score of 95.8, and our bottom line has improved.
I am extremely pleased with the professionalism received from Project Planet and I look forward to working as a team in the future.
Sincerely,
Nancy Pesic Corporate Executive Housekeeper Janus Hotels and Resorts

Dear Tyler,
Thank you and Project Planet for creating a wonderful program. Prime Hospitality looked at a number of different options. Within a short period of time we realized that Project Planet program was the most effective program available.
Since we started the Project Planet program, we have received only positive feedback. I can't say enough about the enthusiasm the guest have for the program. Guests really feel their stay is enhanced by the opportunity to help the world's environment one overnight stay at a time.
Through water, energy, detergent, and labor savings, the program actually paid for itself in a few weeks. Because we spend less time washing linens and towels, we are able to refocus more energy on keeping the rest of our suites in top shape. Our housekeeping staff associates are more efficient and, therefore, able to spend more time on other details in the room.
I am very pleased with the customer service Prime Hospitality has received from the Project Planet team. Everyone at the company is friendly, responsive, and focused on helping us create the best program possible at my properties.
For anyone looking to enhance the experience of guests, while improving their bottom line and helping to save the environment, the Project Planet program is a must have.
Sincerely,
John Capone Senior VP Operations Western Division Prime Hospitality Corp.

We have participated in the Conserving For Tomorrow program for one year now. Not only has it resulted in reduced energy and labor costs, the response from our guests and employees alike has been outstanding. Our guests appreciate the fact that we are concerned about the environment and often make their lodging selection based on environmental awareness. Employees like being part of a environmentally conscious company. From both an operational and marketing point of view, this has been an excellent decision!
GENERAL MANAGER HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS ALBANY, NY

Dear Mr. Tatum,
I am writing to give my unqualified endorsement to your "Conserving For Tomorrow" program. We have had the program in place since May of 1996, and I cannot imagine running a property without it. The program has been easy to implement, highly effective, and yet almost invisible to our guests. Participation in the program ranges close to 100%, and we have had only one complaint since the program was started. To the contrary, we have received several compliments on the program.
In our property and our community, laundry is the top producer of waste-water. Through the Conserving For Tomorrow program we are able to feel good about reducing our effects on the environment. At the same time, we are able to reduce our housekeeping and laundry costs through the tremendous savings the program provides. Compared to other full-service hotels in our management group, we see savings of 3-5 minutes on our average room cleaning time over other properties currently not using the program. Annually, saving 5 minutes of cleaning cost in each occupied room can equate to an annual savings of around $15,000 in payroll cost. And that does not even take into account the savings in chemical cost, linen replacement cost, or the cost of water and sewer.
As for quality, our guests still perceive that their rooms are very clean. From the time we started the program, and all the way through today, all our guest satisfaction scores as they relate to cleanliness, have consistently exceeded the brand average for full-service Holiday Inn hotels.
In summary, I feel this program is a great success at our hotel. As I mentioned above, I cannot imagine running a property without it. I would encourage any General Manager to strongly consider the program.
Regards,
Bill Moore GENERAL MANAGER HOLIDAY INN, BURLINGTON, NC

Dear Mr. Tatum,
The "Conserving For Tomorrow", linens and towels re-use program is having great success here at the CROWNE PLAZA AT THE UNITED NATIONS, NY.
We have found the program easy to implement, the cost savings are incredible and above all the guests appreciate the fact that they have the option to participate. Best of all, they are choosing to do so, which is the reason for the success of the program.
I recommend the "Conserving For Tomorrow" program to anyone. It is a win-win situation. Not only does it help our bottom line but it has a positive and immediate impact on the environment.
Just imagine the potential cost savings in energy, labor and water if all of the SIX CONTINENTS properties were participating!
Sincerely,
General Manager Crowne Plaza at the United Nations New York, NY

Dear Mr. Stanley,
I spoke with Ms. Lynn Cook this morning while I was re-ordering the Linen Door Hangers and Ms. Cook informed me that you might be interested in receiving a copy of the conservation tracking records that I have since implementing this program.
We began this program on April 2, 2001 and now have 2 and 2/3rds months of data to date. I am enclosing copies of the data that I have accumulated thus far. As you can see the results have been outstanding and the participation of our guests has been better than expected. These results are far better than what I expected when we began speaking about the possibility of putting this program in place.
I have no way of calculating the cost of the gas or electricity used but it has to be a large amount of money, especially the gas as the costs of Natural Gas have skyrocketed so much the past year. If you have a better tracking method, could you please forward a copy to my attention at the hotel? Perhaps there is a better way to calculate these savings that will not take as much time.
Let me know if I can be of any further assistance to you in the future.
Regards,
Crowne Plaza Pensacola Grand Hotel Jim Ashton Executive Housekeeper

Dear Mr. Stanley,
Thank you for sending the additional "Conserving For Tomorrow" posters. As soon as they were received we added them to our lobby signage.
John, as you know, we have been on the program for over a year now. We have found this program to be very well received by our guest. As a matter of fact, the only time I have received feedback other than a compliment, is when we forget to follow the program.
The guests find the materials easy to read and very informative. They help us establish our "green" approach to the hotel business. We look forward to the new program items when they become available in the future.
Once again, thank you for your assistance.
Sincerely,
Mike Bobbin General Manager Holiday Inn Haborview Halifax / Dartmouth Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

Dear Mr. Tatum,
There is a trend towards offering guest the option to re-use their linens and towels taking place in the industry. We have lead this trend with our Conserving For Tomorrow program for over 7 years and over 1,000 of our properties are currently enjoying a savings of $20,000 to $100,000 annually with a very small investment.
Join the trend today and start saving!
Sincerely,
Kirk Kinsell Senior Vice President of Americas Franchise and Business Development InterContinental Hotels Group, Inc.
P.S. The environment and your guest will thank you!

| I am sharing a room with a friend. We would like to re-use our towels, but there is no way to know which towel is mine and which is my friend's. A solution that we thought would work would be to have some different clips that we could use to identify the towels as our own. |

I usually travel with my own towel for short trips. I have stayed on other hotels that shower curtains are curved and have magnets to make them stay in the bathtub.
At this specific hotel the curtains moved so much due to the air flow in the shower I had to take them out and then had to use the towels to dry the floor. A simple curve tube and some cheap magnets would have avoided this. |

Each room should have one blue/green recycle bin for guests to use instead of only having trash bins as option. Also rechargable AA batteries for tv remotes |
